Foundation year
A year at the start of a degree that brings you up to degree level, and you carry straight on to year one. Funded: the 2026/27 tuition fee loan is up to £5,760 for classroom-based subjects and £9,790 for partly practical ones.

Undergraduate degree
Three years full time (four in Scotland). Apply through UCAS with A-levels, BTECs, an Access diploma or an equivalent qualification.
Top-up degree
One final year on top of an HND or foundation degree, ending in an honours degree. Funded like any other undergraduate year.
Master's degree
One year taught, or two years part time. Postgraduate loans are available for eligible courses.
Nursing and allied health
Adult, mental health, children's and learning disability nursing, plus paramedic science, radiography and midwifery — with extra NHS funding on top of student finance.
Part-time study
At least 25% of a full-time course, funded with a tuition fee loan of up to £7,335 and a reduced maintenance loan in 2026/27.
